Here Are 10 Books Kim Kardashian's Book Club Should Read

We have some good ideas! Can we join?
Oprah has one. Emma Watson has one. Florence Welch has one. And now Kim Kardashian, Chrissy Teigen, and Jen Atkin are joining forces to start their very own book club.

Kim made the announcement on Twitter on Thursday, saying that she's in charge of the first pick, Betty Eadie's Embraced by the Light: The Most Profound and Complete Near-Death Experience Ever. Apart from having the best title ever, Kim says it's "a life changer." We're in! Kim invited BFF La La Anthony to join and, after tweeting that she's never read Eadie's book, it looks like Kourtney is going to get in on the action, too.

You might have seen that Kim requested book recommendations last night. Was this a sneaky way for her to hint that her book club was coming? Some of the responses she received weren't the best—so we decided to play fantasy librarian. Here are 10 titles we think these celeb bookworms should add to their shelves. (Our invite is in the mail, right?)

Sofia Richie and Jasmine "Golden Barbie" Sanders Star in DL1961's Spring 2017 Campaign

Sofia Richie has steadily racked up her modeling credits since first catching our attention in 2014. Her latest gig? DL1961's Spring 2017 campaign, #TheUniform. Joined by fellow influencers Jasmine Sanders and model Nathaniel Dam, Richie hits New York City's Chinatown for the ads, which showcase off-duty denim looks you're going to want to copy, stat.

"At the end of the day, denim is the most core, essential utilitarian piece that everyone wears, so it was important for us to take on a more conversational tone," DL1961's Creative Director, Sarah Ahmed says in a release about the campaign. "We are reinterpreting vintage fits and washes but with the feel and performance of new age denim."

See Jasmine and Sofia's looks in action in campaign videos exclusive to ELLE.com.

Kim Kardashian Flawlessly Deals With a Wardrobe Malfunction

Kim Kardashian’s skin-tight, barely-there looks are sometimes a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen. So you know that if anything goes wrong with an outfit, Kim can certainly handle it.

Case in point: The unfortunate shoe mishap the reality TV star suffered through in Costa Rica. Kardashian was photographed in a coppery Paco Rabanne minidress, accessorizing with a simple black dad hat, sleek clutch, and gold high-heeled sandals with straps that circled up her lower legs.

Kardashian seems sure-footed in the paparazzi photos, but take a closer look and you’ll see that one of the heels on her sparkly shoes is missing.

But it looks like Kim wasn’t too worried about it, as you can see her soldiering on in spite of all. Watch and learn, people.

Heel or no, those shoes were made for walking, and darn it, Kim did just that.

Raf Simons Pays Homage to Big Apple in First Stateside Collection

Raf Simons, the fashion industry’s designer crush, just showed his men’s collection in NYFW: Men’s, and it was a love letter to his new home town, New York City.

The Belgian designer’s much-anticipated move to NYC, for his new job as chief creative officer at Calvin Klein, has been buzzed about for months, as fashion insiders wait with bated breath to see his first collection for the house, debuting in two weeks at New York Fashion Week.

But on Wednesday night, we were given a glimpse of what’s to come.

Simons homage to the Big Apple was paid in the way of sweaters, T-shirts and gaffe tape (yes, gaffe tape!) with the iconic “I ❤NY,” “Have a Nice Day,” and “Thank You” slogans emblazoned across them.

Long coats held together with gaffe tape, arm warmers, and beaded silver necklaces made up the bulk of the collection, and while exiting, whispers were heard from editors wondering if the tape was just for show or if it was actually going to be included with the coat when requested for shoots and at retail.

In short: Will Raf Simons’s gaffe tape be the hottest accessory to come out of men’s fashion week?

The Designer Responsible for Beyoncé's and Kim Kardashian's Best Looks Is Out at Givenchy

Riccardo Tisci, creative director at Givenchy, confirmed in an exclusive to WWD that he will be leaving the French design house, effective on Jan. 31.

Tisci spent 12 years as head of Givenchy, and is responsible for helping to create some of the most memorable looks on loyal stars like Beyonce — who has worn Tisci’s designs to the last five Met Gala events — and Kim Kardashian — who wore a couture Givenchy gown for her 2015 wedding to Kanye West.

The designer’s last collection for Givenchy was the fall-winter 2017 men’s and couture shows, and his designs will likely appear on celebrities through the American awards season. Though still unconfirmed, insiders speculate that Tisci will head to Versace, where he has a close relationship with the Italian design house’s creative head, Donatella.

Tisci’s tenure at Givenchy has been monumental. He injected colossal star power into the brand, leveraging the power of celebrity culture to sell clothes — much like how Anna Wintour bolsters Vogue sales when she put household names on the magazine’s covers.

Most recently, Tisci created buzz around Givenchy by including Naomi Campbell in a topless ad and dressed Meryl Streep at the Golden Globes, where Streep made headlines for a politically-charged speech.

Tisci’s departure adds another churn to the revolving door of designers leaving houses where they’ve made themselves known even to those who aren’t fashion insiders. In the last year alone: Raf Simons left Christian Dior; Hedi Slimane left Saint Laurent; Anthony Vaccarello left Versace; Alexander Wang left Balenciaga.

While some designers stay with only stay with a brand for a few years, others like Tisci at Givenchy, stay for what feels like a lifetime.

Speed Dating with City Swoon

Like prior to our parents marriages, or badly staged episodes of Reality TV, Speed Dating is coming out of the woodwork with a new nationwide start-up 'CitySwoon'. Combining the old-school tactics of face-to-face dates, with the new-age opportunities of a tech connection, perspective Romeo's and Juliet's headed to the pre-organised CitySwoon group date location to let the lovin' begin. Once checked in online, CitySwoon texts you when your next date will start, and a picture of them pops up so you can pick them out of the crowd. This particular speed dating experience was for people aged 22 to 32, but future events cater for a wide variety of ages, from 22, to 55.

I'm not saying I'm too single, but I spent the night before this date up until 3am painting a DIY Gnome and watching 'The Office' (I try to keep myself entertained). When I heard about the event from my fabulous PR friend, Sarah Nguyen, we jumped at the chance to explore this opportunity, and soon found ourselves downstairs at Bank Street Social Club for the festivities to begin. Honestly, we were a bit confused, there wasn't a run down of the night given, or the organisers addressing the crowd, but since we were only there to check it out and have a fun night, we weren't too fussed. We grabbed our drinks, received our texts, and we were ready to go on our 10 minute encounters.

The City Swoon text directions on the night

Now I know that I'm a picky person, I'm starting to remind myself of those not super amazing couples on Married at First Sight who whole-heartedly believe they deserve better than the on-par person standing in front of them. The first date was with a game developer who laughed like a hyena and drenched my hand with sweat on our departing handshake. The next two guys were both friends who had moved to Australia from international countries, who both had a passion and appreciation of our beautiful country, and eventually had to decline a date offer from one. I definitely got along with the last guy the easiest, with long conversations including me overshadowing his knowledge of obscure animated shows, but I've never met a Mathematician that I've ever liked.

Bank Street Social Club

I loved incorporating my phone into the dating experience. BUT even if I'm on a date I'm not enjoying, I find it common courtesy to not be on my phone. During the dates last night (helped with a few drinks), I found my eye wandering to my phone screen waiting for the next text so I could say my goodbyes, buy a Mojito to subtly flirt with the bartender (I had three to find out he was taken), and move onto the next meet up.

I found the dates were in a way, fairly well-suited for me in one way or another. Two guys were smart, nice, graduates with good jobs and a sly sense of humour, the other two were fun, adventurous, talkative and exotic. Put them all together and I might have found someone I'd be interested in seeing again, the website did good, but I need great to change my ways.

Would I go again? Probably not. Although the people I met were lovely, they didn't check my boxes, I feel like I would be wasting their time and mine, more because of who I am, and where I am in my life right now. I really hope these people find what they are looking for, I'm positive if they keep at it, they'll find someone just so lovely for them.

CitySwoon has provided a platform for people to skip the one night stand vibes from Tinder, and jump straight to the coffee date you've been waiting 4 days for your right swipe to ask you on. I think once the word gets out and more people like me jump on the bandwagon, I'll definitely consider going again.

Happy Dating,

Emma D
